Thunder Bay Water Watch
05.02.2016
Well over 600 residents have signed this petition and want to be involved in the conversation around our water. We welcome input from you !
For 600 homes in the test zone of Current River, the sodium hydroxide is now being injected into your tap water. The NaOH will be added slowly in increasing amounts so the full effects of the chemical will take some time to notice. The chemical will also now be present in the water contained by the aging Current River water holding tank. The CR water tank is estimated to be at least 90 -100 years old ! Do you think it is time for that tank to be replaced ?
We would appreciate if residents would share their experience now that NaOH test has started. Please post your comments ,questions and stories on this page , or send an email to tbaywaterwatch@gmail.com . Let us know if you have a story you want us to share on this page as these posts get sent by email to all who signed the petition. Get in touch and let us know if there are any changes that you notice with your tap water. Does the water seem more slippery ? Are there any noticeable changes in color, taste, residues etc ? We welcome hearing from anyone who wants to share their water lead test results both past ,present and ongoing . Are your lead levels so high that you feel you need a special filter ? We've heard stories about people who have wanted to change their lead pipes and have encountered alot of roadblocks by the city . Have you changed your lead pipes? What was your experience?
The more open we are as a community about this process the better it is , as the lead problem has been a silent issue for much too long !
We also want to be certain that the City is keeping up with their promise of updating the old pipes whenever major street/road work is being done. How many road in our city have been redone without replacing the lead pipes under them ? Have you had street work in your area ? Were the old pipes removed and updated at that time ? Let us know!
We are interested in hearing from you. Lets make this a community conversation.
