Cambridge ON City Council - Ward 7 Vacant Seat

Cambridge ON City Council - Ward 7 Vacant Seat
The Issue
Petition from Residents of Cambridge to the City of Cambridge Council:
In regards to, the Ward 7 Council vacancy due to the Passing of Councillor Frank Monteiro.
It is our understanding that the Council of the City of Cambridge is considering filling the vacant seat in Ward 7. The two options being by way of appointment or by by-election. If the Council decides it is to be by way of appointment, Council should respect the democratic and ethical process by nominating and appointing the runner up in the past Municipal Election for Ward 7. If the appointment process is not selected by Cambridge City Council, due to the length of time left in the term of council, a fair and open by-election in Ward 7 must be held and the person chosen will be chosen by the citizens of Cambridge in Ward 7. Anything other than these two options would be an affront to democracy and electoral freedom of the Citizens of Cambridge.
