Please join us at this important meeting to make clear to the Mayor and City Council that what the people of DuPont want at 1901 Savannah Highway is a Farmers Market and venue space, not a Fire Station.
Indications are that the desires of many hundreds of citizens who have petitioned City Council to create a West Ashley Farmer's Market are about to be ignored by our City Council in favor of a fire station land swap that will result in yet another car dealership on Savannah Highway and the loss of the optimum site for our Farmer's Market and Venue. If this is in fact the case, we need to stop this today.
Please join us at 5 PM today to voice your support for the Farmer's Market and to oppose any fire station land swap that will result in more car dealerships on Savannah Highway and the loss of our future Farmer's Market.
For those who are unaware of it, our neighborhood is called DuPont. It is NOT the "Auto Mile". People actually live here and we have as much right to control the destiny of our community as the neighborhood associations of the Peninsula do to control the destiny of the older parts of the city.
Please speak up against the proposed actions of the City today so that we can begin to reconnect our neighborhoods, parks, bikeways and greenways to a vibrant and supportive locally focused fresh food source and venue for our neighborhood activities.
