Help us change the McKinney TX city ordinance against Potbelly Pigs.

The Issue

  • Our family has a 10 year old Potbelly Pig named Lucy. Lucy has lived a pampered life, in our home, as a domesticated pet her entire life. We got Lucy when she was a wee piglet, 6 weeks old and 6 whole pounds. She is approaching her senior years now.
  • Like most potbelly pigs, Lucy lives in the house. She sleeps in the bed. She is potty trained. She is smart and loving. We have had no problems with complaints in all these years, until a new neighbor moved in next door and decided they just didn't like Lucy being...well Lucy. A pig. She's different and they don't like different.
  • They complained to the city and we are now facing having to move if we cannot get the McKinney TX City Council to either change the city zoning code or make an exception for Lucy.
  • Please sign our petition to allow Lucy to stay home. We are meeting with City Council October 19. If we lose, Lucy will have to be displaced from her home and family and go to a foster home or a pig sanctuary until we are able to find housing in a surrounding city. This will be very stressful on Lucy and could compromise her health and well being.
  • We know we are not the only potbelly pig in McKinney. We're fighting for all of them!
