On August 3rd, Jessica Chrustic and her beloved 2-year-old dog, Moose, went on their usual early morning walk in Prospect Park.  All was fine until they crossed paths with a man known to many as a violent sociopath.  He typically carries a large stick and terrorizes people in Prospect Park - typically women with dogs - though his wrath is often not so discerning.  In spite of Ms. Chrustic's efforts to run from him with her dog, the attacker chased after them, struck Ms. Chrustic in the back with his large stick (often described by victims as being as large as a pole), and proceeded to attack her dog.  He hit Moose multiple times with such force as to crack his tooth and cause internal bleeding.  Sadly, Moose died from these injuries 2 days later.

Since then, it has come to light - as far back as 2019 - that he attacked another woman and her dog though she was able to get away.  Both incidents were reported to the NYPD and many have since come forward to tell their own unfortunate and frightening encounters with this man who is known to live in Prospect Park and frequently harrass and attack women in particular.

The NYPD have done virtually nothing to apprehend this man, though a number of concerned members of the community have called 911 with sightings of him wielding his stick at others.  In fact, the police have done nothing at all - in one case telling someone that the "charges were dropped" by Ms. Chrustic - a complete fabrication.  The NYPD response has been nothing short of disinterest - a similar response can be expected from Council Woman Shahana Hanif, expressing her greatest concern for the well-being of the attacker and not the man's victims.

This petition is being created to demand the NYC Mayor Eric Adams, take appropriate action to rectify this matter.  This man needs to be removed from the park and be held accountable for his violent crimes.  We urge you to join us in bringing attention to what is a grave injustice not only to Ms. Chrustic and her dog, but to everyone in the community that simply wishes to take a walk in the park or within the community without feeling threatened or attacked by a known assailant.  Please join us in bringing peace and justice back to our community for everyone's sake and well-being.  Thank you.

If this man is not taken off the streets and out of the park someone else will be seriously injured in the future.  It is inevitable.
