This is a petition aimed at changing the "Cottage Food Laws", in Kentucky. As of right now, the only people allowed to sell food out of their homes are farmers, and those farmers had to have grown the ingredients themselves. This makes it very difficult for someone to start a home-based business, producing safe, non-hazardous food products to sell to their friends and neighbors, or even online. Kentucky has some of the strictest laws in the country regarding sales made from a non-commercial kitchen. This has to change, people need more home-baked goods, and they want them locally. These laws especially effect women who aren't employed, don't have access to a garden, or commercial grade kitchens. These laws are preventing stay at home moms from contributing to their families income, we have many skilled cooks and bakers in Kentucky, and they deserve the right to showcase their abilities and spread their joy for cooking to others, even those across the country.
