Dear Friends and Supporters;
We are grateful for your support, and remain determined to have all our voices heard, so that a plan for Lackawanna Plaza better reflects the interests of our community and planet. Against the best advice of the Montclair Planning Board, The Montclair Township Council approved the updated Lackawanna Plaza Redevelopment Plan with a 4-2 vote on Tuesday, October 10th.
We now have a limited time to appeal this decision.
The Planning Board determined that even with the updated plan;
1. The size of the development is out of character with the neighborhood.
2. The Board is skeptical that the parking needs generated by the project can be fulfilled on-site.
3. The. Board was not convinced that the traffic generated by the project could be mitigated without degradation in the quality of life, health and safety of the surrounding community.
4. The proposed supermarket size, location, visibility and access are problematic.
5. The size and quality of the open space could not be confirmed.

We recently discovered that there is a report that shows that this development plan can increase the dangers of flooding in the surrounding area!
We kindly ask for your continued support and to take these actions ASAP;
1: Send a request to the Township clerk for The Princeton Hydro Flood Report on the Lackawanna Redevelopment Plan, at anieves@montclairnjusa.org to show that we are all paying attention. Flooding dangers will be one of our strongest arguments for the appeal. 2: Donate funds for an attorney for our appeal. No amount too small. Please watch for a link that we will send you soon.
