Massachusetts has become "poachers paradise" because of its outdated and lax laws that do nothing to prevent illegal poaching, trapping, and fishing.
A new bill is being passed which would increase the penalty, The increased penalties include higher fines, license suspension and even prison sentences for repeat offenders.

The bill would also call for Massachusetts to join the Interstate Wildlife Violator Compact, a national registry of poachers. Poachers are robbing the land of its precious resources. It is taking the life of an animal that is protected by law. The current fine for poaching is as low as $50. Compared to what a poacher makes, it is a drop in the bucket. Hell, even a parking ticket costs more.

The law is outdated, it is high time that the government updates it. Poaching is a crime plain and simple, it is only just that the punishment fits the crime.
