Regulate Uber and Lyft
The Issue
PETITION TO THE GENERAL COURT of the COMMONWEALTH of MASSACHUSETTS
Whereas: Illegal and unfair competition on the part of the Transportation Network Companies is stealing jobs from law abiding taxi cab drivers: and
Whereas: Due to said illegal and unfair competition taxi cab shift drivers are no longer earning enough to pay for the next day’s $100 shift fees: and
Whereas: Small taxi cab owner operators can no longer meet medallion payments; and
Whereas: The livelihood of shift drivers and small owner operators are threatened by illegal Transportation Network Company vehicles thereby creating suffering for families of taxi cab drivers and seriously compromising their economic security;
Therefore: We, the undersigned taxi cab drivers and owner operators, hereby request that you, the elected representatives to the General Court of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, support the provisions of the Dorcena-Forry/Moran House Bill 3702 regulating all Transportation Network Companies such as Uber and Lyft. We further request that you support amendments to said bill that would control transportation network company vehicle fares and limit the number of transportation network company vehicles to operate.
