Bill H616 An act relative to the promotion of mental health education
The goal of Bill H616 is to promote mental health education in both public and private schools in Massachusetts. Specifically, physical and mental health education will be taught as required subjects in all grades for all students for the purpose of promoting the physical and mental well-being of such students. Mental health education programs shall recognize multiple dimensions of health by including mental health, and the relationship of physical and mental health, so as to enhance student understanding, attitudes and behaviors the promote health, well-being and human dignity.
By starting these mental health education programs as early as elementary school, students will feel comfortable and encouraged to talk about their feelings and emotions. Providing them with safe and healthy ways to manage emotions will teach them that it is normal to experience 'bad days'. It is time to get rid of the negative stigma that has been surrounding mental health illnesses for way too long. Please consider signing this petition to get this bill passed! Thank you!
