The Issue

Moog is a large engineering firm headquartered in Elma with deep connections throughout Western New York. Though they are best known for making aircraft and motion control components, they have also manufactured a public image as one of Buffalo’s foremost economic caretakers.

Hidden beneath this positive reputation, however, Moog has a much more sinister business model: manufacturing the weapons used by Israel against Palestine. Lockheed Martin, the largest weapons manufacturer in the world by revenue, has multiple partnerships with Moog. Within this business relationship, Moog is responsible for producing critical parts for Lockheed’s F-35 and M-346 fighter jets.

Simply put, these tools of genocide would not function without Moog’s components.

Especially alarming for our campus community, Moog is deeply ingrained throughout the University at Buffalo, collaborating on research projects, influencing the design of programs/courses, donating funds to create new professorships, and more. As if this level of undue control wasn’t enough, Moog’s CEO, Pat Roche, sits on the UB Council, an all too often unknown decision-making body with significant power over our university. This council acts as a consultant to UB’s president (including suggesting who should replace our outgoing president) and helps guide all major activities of the university.

The situation is clear: Moog will exploit genocide to help their bottom dollar, and they’re forcing all of us to join hands with them in doing so.

It is important to note just how much of a profit Moog has been willing to reap from an international human rights catastrophe. Since the beginning of Israel’s genocidal campaign, Moog’s profits have skyrocketed. At the beginning of 2026, Moog reported record high profits that only continue to increase. Their stock prices have more than doubled since October of 2023.

By partnering with Moog, UB has implicated all of us in Israel’s continued terror in Palestine. All war profiteers must be kicked out of our university.

We demand:

  1. The immediate removal of Pat Roche from the UB Council.
  2. UB disclose all existing and previous ties with Moog and its subsidiaries, including all partnerships, investments, research, and collaborations.
  3. UB end all ties with Moog and its subsidiaries, including all partnerships, investments, research, and collaborations.
  4. UB redirect its investments to meet the material needs of its students, workers, and community members rather than prioritize the interests of large corporations like Moog. We demand UB take concrete action to:
    1. address food and housing insecurity among its students and workers,
    2. expand university-provided physical and mental health services,
    3. improve accessibility and transportation on campus, and
    4. expand university-provided childcare and eldercare services.

The mask is off Moog, now it’s time to get them off our campus!
