So armed with these marvelous tweets, I contacted Marsha's Congress rep Brad Sherman- and passed this on..I hope it makes a difference. Meanwhile Brad's communications director Arya Ansari informed me that the reason I never heard from Sherman's office ( and I've been writing since MAY) was because there was a firewall problem with emails to their office. He promised me that the problem was fixed and that he'd get my information (including the petition) to the White House.
I insisted that Brad Sherman WATCH the documentary- and I sent Ari a private link to the film for Brad Sherman. He gave me grief but I was firm. As there is NO nominating process for this award, how can Brad recommend someone for an award from his district that he knows nothing about? Arya relented and finally sent the film link to Brad Sherman.. Lets hope Brad Sherman is a man of character - and will watch the film.
So I have renewed hope.. I threw in $25.00 and someone else donated $2.00 to get the petition going again and we're up to 2600 signatures now and its moving! If you have a few dollars to "feed the meters", please help out. It is extremely frustrating that the only way to get the petition moving is to donate funds.. Guess that's the way it works. .thanks for all your donations and signatures..
The TCM screening on Marsha's birthday went well. I am extremely grateful to TCM for showing the film- and saying my name both in the "intros" and "outros". As a former researcher at "Entertainment Tonight", I was listening intently to the "facts" as Alicia spoke. She was spot on... They used material that I had posted in various interviews..so wonderful thank you..
Thanks again Dana for giving us another shot at getting the word out.. My next goal- to try and make any holiday guides in publications. The documentary is a perfect gift for up and coming young activists.
