Hi All:
I wanted to give you a quick "Marsha Hunt" update.. No word from my contact at the White House regarding the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Hopefully we'll hear something soon. I'm still trying to go through Brad Sherman's office as Marsha lives in his district. So far NO RESPONSE. Nor did I hear from Adam Schiff's communications director either. I didn't expect it would be this hard- but I am not giving up!
In the meantime, as I mention in the headline, this Sunday is Marsha's 104th birthday. I saw her this afternoon. We had a wonderful talk about Hollywood in its heyday. We even discussed the CSU strike at Warner Bros in 1945. She was horrified when I told her about the current working conditions in Hollywood! She is very supportive of shorter work days, more pay and more meal breaks!
In honor of Marsha's birthday on Sunday, Turner Classic Movies is re-airing "Marsha Hunt's Sweet Adversity" ( co-produced by myself, Richard Adkins & Joan Cohen) Check your local listings across the U.S & Canada. Here in Los Angeles, the documentary will air at 11 a.m. PST and in the east at 2 pm EST.
If you don't have TCM, the film can be seen on YouTube Movies, TubiTV.com (free with short ads) & on Amazon Prime It is also on Blu-Ray & DVD - on Amazon & Barnes & Noble (If you want to order for holiday gifts, best to order in November as it takes time for vendor to make the video and send out..)
After seeing the film, you will understand why Marsha MUST get this Presidential Medal of Freedom! Here is a recent article written about the documentary airing on Sunday:
If anyone wants to send Marsha a birthday greeting via email or a note after seeing the documentary, send note to Marsha via my email address rogcmemos@gmail.com. I love reading these notes to her- and it lifts her spirit!
Take care everyone.. and remember , Marsha Hunt rose above adversity, and we will all as well!
Roger
p.s enclosed activism clip Marsha explaining the "Universal Declaration of Human Rights" to a group at the Women's Club of Hollywood. Enjoy and thanks again!
