Hello everyone.

Thanks ever so much for your ongoing support-- we pulled in 1,500 signatures!   I've decided to now shoot for 2,500 signatures as the more signatures we pull in, the better the chance to get local news coverage. And thanks so much for the donations to keep the petition going. Don't feel like you have to donate a large sum of $$...a few dollars here and there help keep the process going. Having said that, I donated myself $25.00...can’t help it!

These are dark days, with all that is happening in Afghanistan. Rather than point the blame, I choose to help by donating to causes where woman and children might benefit from funds. In Marsha's name, I made a donation to UNICEF USA. Hopefully, the funds will help women and children-- and only 3% of donated funds go to administrative costs.  I'd much rather have people donate to causes like this over the petition.  We'll get her the Medal of Freedom, this I know-- but Marsha, if she could would be working the phones, trying to get donations to help those in need.

I try and visit Marsha once a week.  I went by the house yesterday I found her in great spirits and good health.  I try my best to keep the conversation about her early days in Hollywood and her career.  I definitely don't bring up world politics because I know it would upset her.  I do keep her up to date about the homeless situation in Los Angeles because it is a cause that is near and dear to her heart.  As honorary mayor of Sherman Oaks. In 1983, she was one of the first to recognize that homelessness was a growing problem. And by 1986, she and a committee of activists had opened the first homeless shelter in the San Fernando Valley.

Yesterday I shared with her  an article about a local homeless advocate organization that built 103 tiny houses for the homeless in North Hollywood.  Marsha was thrilled! She hit me with a barrage of questions — “Who built these homes?  What building materials are they made out of?  How do people qualify to get into homes?”  We had a wonderful talk. So you see...once an activist, always an activist!

Thank you again for your ongoing support and thanks to everyone for sharing this link - and as always, if you can think of any journalists who will write about our mission, let me know  rogcmemos@gmail.com or 310-717-9364

All the best to all of you!

Roger

And P.S.  I’m not having much luck with links-- but hopefully you'll be able to see the enclosed clip (above) — which didnt make the documentary— darn it...but this is the essence of Marsha ..again acting on her conscience-- talking about her hatred of war. It is one of my favorite all time clips of her.
