Improve pitch maintenance at Dorset Reserve
The Issue
To Whom It May Concern
As a Maroondah Council Ratepayer and/or Croydon City Arrows Soccer Club paying member I am not satisfied that I am getting good value service from Maroondah City Council with regard to Soccer facilities used by Croydon City Arrows Soccer Club. In particular the poor grass coverage of the pitch at Dorset Reserve at the beginning of the season would appear to have been the result of sub-standard off-season maintenance over the 2014/15 summer. The wet winter experienced this year has led to a poor playing surface and resultant postponement of games and poorer quality matches.
We request the council make a concerted effort over the coming spring and summer to ensure the surface is of a quality expected for a sport played predominantly on the surface and that will sustain the rigours of winter foot traffic. The current surface does not reflect the level of competition of the Senior Men's and Women's teams nor does it support the work done to get them to higher leagues over the last few years. Additionally, this undermines the significant effort expended by many volunteers to improve the Croydon City Arrows club through recruitment, retention and development of Junior soccer players in what is the largest participation sport in Melbourne (and the world).
We do not believe we are getting a good return as rate payers and club members and are not on par with other sporting codes or clubs within the region for the size membership being maintained.
The club member signatures below are supporting this petition to address the issues as requested.
We support and acknowledge the work already done by the committee to create a more constructive relationship with Maroondah Council and look hope to see this come to fruition for the benefit of players, parents and the whole community.
