68th & Carr - Saturday's Meeting

Michael MecherikoffArvada, CO, United States
Sep 25, 2016
The Neighborhood Meeting coming up this Saturday morning at 9 will be the third meeting of its kind for this project. Typically, only one Neighborhood Meeting is required. The tone at the first two meetings (in Feb. and March) was heated opposition to townhouses, neighbors voicing strong opinions about very valid concerns: the effect on our property values, impacts to traffic, the misfit of townhouses among neighborhoods of custom homes, and more. When required by the City, the developer submitted summaries of the meetings. These overviews dulled neighbors' language and removed all of the emotion that neighbors expressed, while depicting its own answers as concise and acceptable, as though the meetings were black-and-white, low-key Q&A. Links to the meeting summaries are below. Knowing the community's feelings in no uncertain terms, the developer has proceeded with its plans. The Neighborhood Meeting on Saturday morning will be one of the few remaining opportunities for us to gather in larger numbers and stand together for our community. I sent an email to the Arvada Press, notifying them of the date and time of the meeting. I'll let you know if/when they respond. I encourage you to attend the meeting--not someone representing you. Attendance matters. I encourage you to make a sign, opposing the project--one that will be clear in pictures. With a large enough crowd, we can send our message to decision-makers. With a small one, we will show that this is not a big deal. Please plan to attend the meeting Saturday morning at 9, 68th & Carr.
