Developer Strategy, Signature Count, City Council

The developer submitted application materials on 4/1, specifically to rezone the entire site, but to build only the first duplex. If you read through the submission, you may see their strategy to circumvent the community's concerns and gain the City's approval: divide the larger project into pieces, apply to develop only the smallest piece, and state that the current project (one duplex) has minimal impact to the community. Then, once rezoning is secured and the first duplex is underway, apply to build the other 24 units. Linked is an example from the application packet, regarding traffic impact.

Current petition signature count: 339. Online: 224. On paper: 115. Those gathering signatures on paper are reporting that almost all of our neighbors are simply unaware of the proposed development. Upon hearing that townhouses are planned, however, they scoff and eagerly sign the petition. With most of our neighbors unaware, and with their signatures coming easily, please think about taking the petition around your neighborhood. Email for details.
We've notified City Council and the Community Development Dept. of our current signature count, so that they're aware that our position continues and grows, and so they can bring it to their colleagues' attention. We'll submit updated numbers again soon, so please continue to make your neighbors aware and to gather signatures.
