Marine Biodiversity - Sperm Whale

The issue

 Marine Biodiversity

Introduction

One of the main things to protect is the Marine life in our oceans. The impact the sea has on us is incredible. Today I am going to be telling you about marine biodiversity and how we can maintain it. All the different species are different sizes and shapes which makes them all unique in their own way. Let's explore how we can help.

Marine Biodiversity

Marine Biodiversity is all the plants and animals that live in the ocean. Charities can help keep our ocean clean and get injured whales and save them and all the other different species. Our island is surrounded by water and that's why it is important to take care of. The ocean makes a significant impact on our lives. It provides us with medicine and oxygen. Animals are getting hurt by fishing nets and global warming raising the sea level so high in places causing oxygen depletion, and killing marine plants and shellfish.

Sperm Whale (Physeter macrocephalus)

Sperm whales are endangered in the New Zealand seas and there are about 300,000 left in the ocean. Over a thousand sperm whales are getting killed and brought in by people to be cut up and people sell the body parts and throw the inedible parts back into the ocean to fish that eat it. The boat's loud noise and oils that spill into the ocean affect the Sperm Whale's behaviour. The fishing gear that falls or comes off from divers get caught in whales also affects their behavior.

How can you make a difference?

You can help out by not littering everywhere you go because somehow it will appear in the ocean with all the other rubbish people have littered. Knowing what is going on in the ocean is a big thing because if you don't know about it you don't know how to help and encourage other people to help. All the oils that come out of vehicles spill into the ocean and harm animals and they get sick. Respecting the habitat of the ocean is important so please respect it and do whatever you can to make a difference.

Conclusion

Never litter and respect the ocean because it is keeping you alive and giving you fresh air. The ocean is a precious place for us and all the animals that live in it and we don't want to take that away from all those whales, fish, and more. When you have finished reading this I hope the next time you go out you think about picking up rubbish and all that you can do to help.
