Future Agenda Items Information 8:25 p.m. ======================================== During the upcoming MMWD Board meeting, Tuesday, June 6, 2017 - 7:30 p.m., the Members will vote on funding the fluoride chemicals added to our water.  This is an opportunity for them to end water fluoridation in Marin.  If the Board votes NO on the current chemicals used and NO for the money to purchase these chemicals, water fluoridation ends in Marin! Please plan to attend!   The two chronic reasons given by the MMWD for why they must fluoridate our water is a Tale of Two Myths:   MMWD MYTH ONE – The MMWD is forced to fluoridate Marin water because of the 1995 CA State mandate.   ACTUALLY – The 1995 CA state mandate legally allows communities NOT to fluoridate their water and pay a voluntary penalty instead.  The penalty is less than what it costs MMWD to fluoridate our water.  24 other CA communities have already rejected water fluoridation (and chosen not to pay the penalty)!   MMWD MYTH TWO – MMWD is forced to fluoridate our water because of the Marin County water fluoridation ordinance that resulted from the 1972 and 1978 votes.   ACTUALLY – MMWD uses fluoride chemicals that are NOT APPROVED for treating municipal water.  MMWD is in violation of the Marin County water fluoridation ordinance.  MMWD adds Hydrofluorosilicic Acid (HFA) to our water, ostensibly to prevent cavities, a purpose of questionable efficacy.  It is (currently) the only chemical added to drinking water intended to treat people drinking the water.   Please call or email your district MMWD Board Member to express your concern and opinion OR attend the June 6th MMWD Board meeting (vote could be changed to June 20). You have an option to speak for 3 minutes or simply witness your representative vote for another year of Hydrofluorosilicic Acid in our water: Tuesday, June 6, 2017 - 7:30 p.m. 220 Nellen Ave., Board Room  Corte Madera, CA 94925 Kindly request the MMWD Board Members to vote NO on the fluoride chemicals, and NO on paying for these chemicals, and finally put an end to the insidious, unethical practice of water fluoridation.
