The Issue

Elder abuse and neglect are serious and growing concerns across Nevada. With much care
Statewide, families need clear, accessible information to help protect their loved ones.
Currently, no public tool shows where abuse and neglect are occurring. This lack of transparency
makes it harder for families to make informed decisions. Awareness isn’t optional—it’s
essential.

The Nevada Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) can address this by creating a
public heat map of reported elder abuse and neglect cases in care facilities. This tool would
highlight problem areas, promote accountability, and help families choose safer environments.
According to the National Council on Aging, 1 in 10 Americans aged 60+ has experienced elder
abuse—showing the urgent need for greater visibility and prevention.

By implementing this heat map, Nevada can take a meaningful step toward protecting its most
vulnerable residents. Transparency builds trust, and informed communities are stronger.
We urge ADSD and state leaders to act now.

Call to Action

• A public heat map of elder abuse and neglect in Nevada care facilities
