MANIFESTO FOR SCIENTIFIC CONSCIENCE AND SOCIAL SOVEREIGNTY
"The will to transform knowledge from a weapon of power into a common shield for humanity."
I. THE PREMISE: REJECTING THE ILLUSION OF NEUTRALITY Science is not a sterile endeavor isolated from politics and society.
History has proven that knowledge untamed by conscience is the sharpest blade of tyranny.
Today, we refuse to let science serve as a tool for surveillance capitalism, ecological destruction, and military domination under the mask of "neutrality."
This manifesto is written to liberate science from being an institutional foot soldier and transform it into a practice of social emancipation.
II. OUR UNSHAKEABLE PRINCIPLES
1. Epistemic Disobedience and the Right to "Intellectual Strike" The scientist is primarily responsible for whom and what their data serves. Principle: Refusing to participate in projects that threaten human dignity, social peace, or ecological balance is not "career suicide" but the highest scientific virtue. Laying down the pen and saying "We do not produce knowledge that serves destruction" (Intellectual Strike) is the scientist's right of self-defense.
2. Protecting Human Dignity Against Cognitive Taylorism We declare war on the technological mindset that views humans merely as "data mines" and minds as "algorithmic components" to be manipulated. Principle: Technology exists to elevate humanity, not to surpass it. We refuse to surrender our will, creativity, and decision-making to the "black boxes" of algorithms. Humans are not mere data; their dignity cannot be calculated.
3. Radical Transparency and Public Commons Scientific activities conducted behind closed doors under the shield of "trade secrets" that determine the fate of the public are an act of betrayal against society. Principle: Knowledge that affects society cannot be hidden from society. Proprietary claims on scientific data concerning the public interest are void; knowledge is the common treasury of humanity.
III. ACTION MODEL: THE SOCIAL FILTER Technological progress is not a "blind rush" toward the abyss. Speed is only meaningful if the direction is right.
Hybrid Conscience Assemblies (Citizen-Expert Partnership): We put an end to technocratic elitism. Critical technological decisions must be audited not just by CEOs or appointed experts, but by boards blending the conscience of citizens (selected by lot) with the knowledge of experts. Expertise answers "how," while society answers "why." Synchronized Progress: No technology lacking ethical infrastructure, social consensus, and legal safeguards can be imposed as "inevitable." Society has the right to intervene in technological flows that threaten its future.
IV. THE GREAT CALL FOR SOLIDARITY Science breaks if it resists alone; it becomes a giant when united with society.
Our call is to all disciplines and the people: To Jurists: Protect the scientists who go on "Intellectual Strike" for the public good.
Make law the shield of conscience, not of power. To Educators:
Do not just raise robots that teach formulas; raise moral minds that question the results of those formulas.
To Citizens: Science is not an unreachable ivory tower. Do not remain spectators as your future is shaped in laboratories.
Demand, audit, participate. Scientific autonomy will only achieve true freedom when crowned with the conscientious oversight of society.
