• A pregnant elephant was murdered in Malappuram district of Kerala, a few days ago, after she faced one of the most brutal forms of animal abuse.
• Some local residents allegedly offered her with a pineapple filled with crackers. After she ate it, the fruit exploded in her mouth, badly injuring her tongue, mouth, oesophagus and other internal organs.
• The Female elephant walked around in the village for help, in searing pain and in hunger. She was unable to eat anything because of her injuries.
• The elephant remained calm, though she was under excruciating pain she didn’t attack any one as she ran in the streets of the village. She didn't crush a single home or created any havoc. The 15-year-old elephant just stood in the river agonising in pain  so that its mouth and tongue which had exploded could get some form of relief. Unfortunately she died standing in the river. The incident was brought to light by Mohan Krishnan, Section Forest Officer, Nilambur, on his Facebook page.
• This is really disheartening and makes us all sick to the core. There have been several incidents of such animal abuse in India in the last few months and unless a strict action is taken against the offenders these abuses and assaults will never stop.

I personally feel that a murder charge should be slapped against the criminals involved in this brutal murder. We would therefore request the government of India to take an immediate action against the offenders.

She wandered into a village searching for food. Locals took a pineapple stuffed it with crackers. She believed them, She believed the humanity, She ate it ! The crackers exploded. She was in pain. She died standing in a river. 

Animals, the most purest creation of God, who need to be worshipped, are being treated brutally, should this be acceptable in our country?
