The Issue

In the summer of 2022, tragedy struck my family, when my beloved son Zamari Ali Wilson, drowned at Virginia Beach. 😔 The same day, a 44-year-old man also lost his life to the unforgiving waters.  The next month, and every year since Zamari drowned, people have been drowning at Virginia Beach every summer.  This has got to stop! 🛑

These heartbreaking drowning incidents have compelled me to take action and advocate for the implementation of necessary safety measures along Virginia Beach.  As you can see, I am turning my pain into passion.

It is essential that we prioritize beachgoers' safety by making it mandatory for lifeguards to be present at Virginia Beach at all times, and also ensuring that warning signs and other safety measures are in place.

1.  Lifeguard Requirement:

Lifeguards play a crucial role in preventing drowning incidents and providing immediate assistance during emergencies. By making it mandatory that lifeguards be present at all times at Virginia Beach, we can significantly reduce the number of tragic drowning accidents that occur there each year.

2. Warning Signs and Safety Precautions:

In addition to having lifeguards on duty at Virginia Beach, it is imperative that warning signs highlighting potential dangers, such as strong currents, weather conditions and hazardous areas are prominently displayed at Virginia Beach.

Life jackets, rafts and other water safety equipment must also be available at Virginia Beach, to help save lives.
