People with learning disabilities are dying younger than the general population, often from preventable or treatable conditions. This is not because their health needs are greater, but because their needs are too often missed, misunderstood, or not taken seriously. 

We call on NHS Scotland, England and the UK Government to make Annual in depth Health care checks mandatory for all people with learning disabilities, with longer appointment times and proactive follow up care. This is supposed to be in situ but these are not in depth enough .... We need better training for health care professionals....

Too many individuals are receiving late diagnosis of serious illnesses including cancer, because symptoms are overlooked or communication barriers are not properly supported.

Standard appointment times are not enough to identify underlying health concerns, especially for those who may struggle to explain pain or changes in their body.

Organizations such as Mencap have long highlighted the stark inequalities in healthcare access and outcomes.

Despite this, health care monitoring is still not guaranteed.

We ask that thing  is not extra but becomes an essential in their lives.
