The recent hurting of James (15 March 2021) has dismayed me since I have been lobbying for a year for the need for mandatory  cameras in disability places of care to prevent this very thing happening and within two years it has happened again!   My son is not safe anywhere - parents suffer their whole lives knowing they cannot protect their disability and non verbal child from being hurt and it is a source of great distress to feel this way ...it has to change...or more mothers will be broken by these kinds of unfortunate attacks on their child... my recent note in James page (ifjamescouldtalk) as follows below -   however when I saw the doctor a second time he said this is not just a squeeze to his arm - it is a deep trauma to he arm like a repeated hit...the bruising is so deep...ok I said can you write that down?   The ndis commission of course said no witnesses...no cameras...cant do anything...well isnt that just what I have been saying I said to them why do you even exist?  YOu never punish the providers - oh we work with them she said...Its not working they are still letting our children and adult children get hurt...fools

"James's bruises much worse now it cuts me to the core. Seeing the manager of the day program she says its a mystery - the workers wouldnt hurt anyone you know them. Look she said one has been crying she is so upset...however I know people cry when they are guilty too or think they might lose their job....
oh said the manager you must be so distressed...she milked the sympathy well...spare me - yes I said but I want to know who did this to my son? - this is failed duty of care...well we have had a good track record she said havent we? Three years or so....to me I think to myself a good track record means no abuse... the workers are deeply upset she crooned - (not as upset as me I am his mother!)
The NDIS says zero tolerance to fraud but I think there is 90 percent tolerance to abuse by the providers and bystanders and maybe 50percent by parents who are too shocked to know what to do and try and then given up as 43 percent of cases are resolved a percentage of those are because the parents are tired of it and give up dropping the complaint. Too many brick walls in our way. Lets kick them down now!
. Its a culture a friend said - a culture of abuse my poor innocent son, my lamb has been born into - a culture of abuse by teachers, students, day programs, respite and workers who think they can get away with it...well not on my watch...
A culture of apathy in a materialistic society - yet now everyone is suffering from the pandemic human rights may be more violated...I will fight for my son always and if we do not stand up they will be hurt more and more...
I never thought it would happen to my child - this is the second time the first time the police refused in 2019 to question the respite worker citing she would just 'lie' so whats the point? What kind of statement is that? So slack so uninterested they need educating on disabilities and vulnerable who cannot defend themselves. Yes we need cameras and body cams so sick of people hurting my son. They better watch out a day of reckoning is coming. Parents are exhausted and beaten down but we must still fight for our children and adult children's protection from harm and keep them from the wolves..."
all the best
