Three years ago, I opened my heart and home to a dog who had experienced unknown trauma before finding safety with me. In the spirit of providing him with a calm, controlled environment that he deserves, everyday life and routine are vital. However, this is continually interrupted when we watch football together, due to a Wingstop commercial. The commercial, featuring an audible doorbell chime, is a trigger for my dog and many others, disturbing the peace of our homes. It is known that approximately 49% of dogs exhibit some kind of fear-related behavior, doorbell sounds being a common trigger (Source: Journal of Veterinary Behavior). For these pets, such sounds can exacerbate anxiety and may even be traumatizing. Wingstop, a nationally recognized company, needs to understand the impact their advertisements are having and make a necessary change. Every pet deserves to feel safe in their own home. As a responsible corporation, Wingstop can and should take action to mitigate unnecessary distress caused by their commercials. We urge Wingstop to take animal welfare into consideration and stop airing the specific commercial featuring a doorbell sound immediately. Please support our effort by signing this petition.
