Mandate timely snow removal in Berkeley Township

The Issue

Living in the delightful community of Holiday City, Berkeley Township in New Jersey, is generally a wonderful experience. Ours is a serene and friendly 55-plus community that prides itself on the quality of life it offers its residents. However, when winter storms hit and snow accumulates, the joy of residing here is challenged. Unfortunately, our community is among the last in Berkeley Township to receive snow removal services, which significantly impacts our daily lives.

Emergency vehicles find it challenging to traverse our streets when they remain covered in snow for extended periods, putting residents at potential risk during emergencies. Many residents struggle to leave their homes as it takes Berkeley Township two to three days to clear the roads. Those living on cul-de-sacs face an even longer wait, leaving us feeling trapped in our own homes. Our driveways remain burdened with snow until the township clears the streets, and this delay is simply unreasonable.

According to multiple weather reports and traffic safety studies, timely snow removal is critical for the safety and mobility of residents, particularly in communities with older adults who may have additional health concerns. Numerous other communities in the township enjoy quicker snow removal services, which further emphasizes the disparity in service provision.

We are urging Berkeley Township to revise their snow removal prioritization plan to ensure that our community receives the same timely attention as others. Implementing a structured schedule, ensuring adequate snow removal equipment, and increasing coordination with local community leaders can make a significant difference.

Action must be taken to rectify this ongoing issue, and we ask for your support in advocating for a more equitable snow removal service. Your signature on this petition can help us effect change, safeguard our community's well-being, and ensure that all residents can safely access emergency services and go about their daily lives without unnecessary hindrance during snow events. Please sign this petition to mandate timely snow removal in Berkeley Township, New Jersey.
