This petition originates from a deeply personal story. My friend's father is currently fighting for his life after a terrible accident caused by a rash driver from a popular delivery company, Zomato. Sadly, this is just one example of countless lives that are affected daily by reckless driving and hit-and-run incidents on our roads.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), hit-and-run crashes have been on a disturbing upward trend, with approximately one occurring every 43 seconds in the United States. Rash driving, too, contributes significantly to traffic accidents, and according to the World Health Organization, road traffic injuries are the leading cause of death for children and young adults aged 5-29 years.

We believe that stricter penalties for both rash driving and hit-and-run incidents can serve as strong deterrents and could contribute significantly to reducing these disturbing figures. We're calling for tough mandatory sentences, including license revocation and substantial fines for those found guilty.

This issue is a matter of public safety and urgently needs addressing.
