Our wildlife rescue, nestled in the heart of San Pedro, Belize, has been a sanctuary for countless animals over the years. Recently, a new resort with a concert stage has sprung up next door. The noise from this establishment is not only disruptive to our operations but also distressing for the animals we care for.

Noise pollution is a serious issue that affects both humans and wildlife alike. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), excessive noise can lead to numerous health problems in humans such as stress-related illnesses, poor concentration, productivity losses in the workplace, and communication difficulties. For wildlife, it can cause changes in species composition and even drive species away from their habitats.

In San Pedro specifically, local regulations state that businesses must adhere to certain noise levels during specific times of day (San Pedro Town Council Act). However these rules are often overlooked or ignored entirely by some establishments.

We believe it's time for change. We call on our local government officials to enforce stricter adherence to these noise ordinances across all businesses within San Pedro - not just for us at the wildlife rescue but also for all residents who value peace and quiet in our beautiful town.
