Urgent and crucial new information has surfaced about Mr. Poilivre, demanding immediate attention from those who value a fair and transparent election process.
Because of the media attention, Mr. Poilivre has finally answered the question—why won't you get a security clearance? He told the Canadian media that it wasn't required because he had one when he became a cabinet minister in the Harper Government.
According to ourcommons.ca, he was appointed to the Cabinet on July 15th, 2013, as Minister of State (Democratic Reform). He lost his cabinet position with the election of the Trudeau Government in 2015.
Here's the problem with his answer—the 'Top Secret' Clearance he claims to have had when he became a cabinet minister is only valid for FIVE years in Canada. This means that even if he had the clearance in 2013, it would have expired well before the 2022 leadership race.
In the 2022 leadership race, he ran against several other prominent Conservative figures, including Jean Charest, who was considered a strong contender. Despite this competition, Poilievre won the leadership with a clear majority of almost 71% of the votes cast- with his closest rival (Jean Charest), who had nearly 12% of the votes.
According to the Globe and Mail on March 25th, the 'Government of India, their agents and proxies allegedly interfered in Poilievre's election to become the Conservative Party leader in 2022.' These allegations, if proven true, could significantly undermine the integrity of our democratic process.
The Globe report cited an anonymous source, who it said had top-secret clearance, as saying that the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) became aware of Indian Government agents being involved in raising campaign funds and organizing within the South Asian community for Poilievre during the leadership race.
Poilieve stated that he won the race "fair and square." And- surprise, surprise, he denied any knowledge of the allegations. The Globe article said that CSIS did not have clear evidence that Poliviere was aware of "the alleged actions."
CSIS couldn't even share the information with Mr. Poilivre because he didn't have "Top Secret" clearance, and he didn't take the opportunity to be briefed on 'serious security issues within the Conservative party' when it was offered to him.
We need to continue the pressure- please send out the link to the petition. The Conservative Party is not allowing national media to travel with them, which means it could be brought up in every campaign stop in every community he stops at. If you are at an event where he's at, ask him why he won't get the security clearance. Tell him that even though you aren't accusing him of anything, it sounds suspicious, especially considering he refused to be briefed. Write letters to the editors of your local papers. Call the paper and ask them to get their reporters to ask the question. Call into radio talk shows- and ask the question.
He still can request security clearance before the election if he chooses to—why won't he? What else is hidden, not only with him but also with his candidates across the country—how well was each vetted?
Let's keep the pressure up, encourage friends and family to sign the petition.
A foreign government or agent mustn't be allowed to buy our election. We can do this. Canada needs a fair and open election.
Thanks,
Brian
