Mandate security cameras AND more park ranger or police in Elderberry Park, Falls Township
The Issue
Elderberry Park in Falls Township was designed for gathering space for families and children to play and enjoy the outdoors. However, our community's cherished park has turned into a hotbed of unsupervised activities that pose a danger to our children and diminish the peace and enjoyment of the area.
Every day, I witness with deep concern how an increasing number of teenagers take over the park, engaging in activities that should alarm every parent and resident. These teenagers frequently indulge in drug use, physical fights, and vandalism, leaving our newly redesigned park in a state of disarray. The damage and chaos they leave behind make it impossible for young children, even when accompanied by their parents, to use the park safely. The place meant for laughter and innocent play has become intimidating and hazardous.
It's devastating to see kids recklessly riding their motorized bikes through the park, creating safety hazards and leading to inevitable conflicts among park users. Despite these ongoing issues, our single police officer seems overwhelmed and unable to effectively manage and deter these activities, as their resources are stretched thin across the township.
To address these escalating issues, we are urgently calling for the installation of security cameras throughout Elderberry Park. Security cameras can serve as a crucial measure to deter unlawful activities, collect evidence when crimes occur, and help the police maintain order. By having these cameras in place, we can create a safer environment for our children and peacefully reclaim our park as a safe haven for community gatherings.
We need your support to make this proposed solution a reality. By signing this petition, you are joining our call for action to ensure the safety and sanctity of Elderberry Park for current and future generations. Please help us make this vital change happen for the wellbeing of our neighborhood and most importantly, our children. Sign this petition today.
