The amount of support and well wishers has been tremendous with over 60 signatures. Thank you to you and your friends and family.
However our work is only beginning.
We are parents, uncles, aunts, grandparents, and friends. We do not want our children to a statistic. A death or life changing injury datapoint of the next highest accident causes in NJ. Therefore,
"Security and Safety of our Children is Non-Negotiable"
In the past few days, we have
- Distributed over 100 posters: We learned that there are many parents like you who was not aware, are affected, and have in the past argued and won similar cases.
- A couple of parents are single or are unable to have flexible working hours. They are at risk of loosing an income and therefore well being. The impact goes beyond children.
- Parents have told us, transportation is today's topic-de-jour. We need a voice going forward for other matters too.
- Some lucky families, who also should have failed the criteria's, got transportation for the school year however are at risk moving forward. Lack of Competency.
The super intendants office told one parent that pavements and other Safety Hazard criteria from the NJ Board of Education's guidance is not their responsibility. Agreed that city infrastructure isn't, HOWEVER the safety of our kids is their responsibility. They do NOT have a representation in the local council - missing on the borough website.
We are reasonable. Our asks are reasonable. Our tolerance for no action, lack of priority, lack of platform for parents voice, and unfair practices is not within a negotiable practice.
