I am a smoker, and I believe that the absence of designated smoking areas at Schiphol Airport is an infringement on my rights and a disregard for my lifestyle choices. The agony of waiting for hours at the airport, which often extends into long flights, without being able to smoke is unbearable.

Schiphol Airport is one of the busiest airports in Europe, with over 71 million passengers in 2019 (source: Statista). Among these millions are smokers like me who are forced to endure long periods without smoking due to the lack of designated areas. This not only causes discomfort but also adds unnecessary stress during travel.

We understand that non-smokers should be protected from second-hand smoke. However, providing separate smoking areas would ensure this while still respecting the rights and needs of smokers.

We urge Schiphol Airport authorities to consider our plea seriously. By establishing designated smoking zones within its premises, they can provide a more inclusive environment catering to all passengers' needs while maintaining public health standards.
