Mandate Sainsburys to Reinstate Salad Bar in Tottenham Court Road Branch
The Issue
I've always had a unique fondness for the salad bar at the Sainsburys on 15-17 Tottenham Court Road. It used to be a source of joy on those busy London days, where I could grab a quick, healthy, and affordable meal. However, the salad bar has now disappeared, and many, including me, feel its absence deeply.
In a city where fast food outlets are plentiful, such healthy and affordable alternatives are not only vital, but they are a necessity for a balanced lifestyle. Adding to this, salad bars like the one Sainsbury's had promote healthy eating habits, which have been proven to reduce obesity and heart-related diseases (Public Health England).
Given that over 2.4 million adults in London alone fail to eat the recommended five portions of fruit and vegetables each day (Greater London Authority), reinstating the salad bar at Sainsbury's Tottenham Court Road branch could not only offer Londoners a healthier alternative but also an opportunity to better their diets.
While Sainsbury's is an independent entity capable of deciding on its store layouts and facilities, as consumers and residents of London, we have a right to demand healthier food choices in our neighbourhood. Therefore, we are calling on Sainsbury's to bring back the salad bar to their Tottenham Court Road branch and provide Londoners the chance to make healthier choices once again. Sign the petition and let's make it happen.
