The Issue

imagine seeing people dead at the side of the road killed everyday , would you disregard them as just roadkill !!!!

As someone who is deeply saddened by the sight of dead animals it is my personal mission to reduce these tragic incidents.

Every time I drive past a deceased animal - be it a fox, badger, deer, bird, dog, cat or squirrel & any wildlife  - my heart breaks. These animals are victims of our fast-paced needs and evolution. We have a duty to protect all wildlife creatures.

there are thousands that are also injured which do not die but suffer badly from their injuries living a difficult and cruel life & add to the cost of RSPCA and other charitable organizations that are left picking up the cost & responsibility to help these poor victims of our roads .

One of the solution I propose involves the construction of tunnels with reinforced plastic for animals to cross roads safely & unnoticed these tunnels can be created using mole-like machines and service detectors for easy and safe installation. The goal is not just to provide safe crossings allow them to live a safe and happy life in our surroundings without being trapped and unable to forage for food & shelter safely

These unfortunate animals are just trying to survive, find food, and raise their offspring. Yet, they are faced with perilous roads that they can't safely traverse. Their lives shouldn't be endangered simply because our civilization is expanding.

The tragedy extends beyond the animals we see on the side of the road. For every animal hit and killed, we must consider the possible nest of babies left behind, their survival chances greatly dwindling without a parent to protect and feed them. The implementation of safe passageways for wildlife in all future and existing road projects is essential to mitigate these horrifying circumstances.

So, I am petitioning for the installation of wildlife crossing structures - tunnels, underpasses, overpasses - in all UK road construction and maintenance projects. The law must require that the safety and lives of wildlife species be considered in road development and maintenance processes. Let's make it mandatory to include these passages in our infrastructure, presenting a solution to reduce wildlife-vehicle collisions and helping animals cross safely.

According to 'Nature Conservation & Roads – A Practical Guide to Mitigation' by the National Roads Authority of Ireland, there is evidence that animals make use of these passages when available, which greatly reduces roadkill incidents. This attests to the effectiveness of these mitigating structures.

There is an urgent need to reshape our roads, which were once carved into the habitats of these animals, into safe crossings that they can navigate without danger. Please sign this petition and let's help secure a safer future for the wildlife cohabitating in our shared environment. Let us reciprocate their respect and allow them to live alongside us, unhindered and unharmed.
