Summit Neighbors Along Salt Brook,

If you have experienced damage or land loss due to Salt Brook erosion, or are concerned about its potential impact, please sign our petition. We plan to present it to local and federal officials to demonstrate our community's urgent need for assistance.

The petition addresses the following critical issues:

•  Increased runoff due to overdevelopment
• Erosion
•  Neglect of regular maintenance and post-storm evaluations, which could prevent larger problems downstream
• The need for stabilization measures throughout Salt Book

Our goal is to secure funding to stabilize the entire length of salt brook running through Summit in an effort to protect our land and properties. We also want the town to better assess the repercussions of overdevelopment, which increases land coverage through paving, building construction, and tree removal. This reduces natural absorption of rainfall and overtaxes our runoff systems. In the event of storms, we ask that the town act immediately to remedy any disruption to the brook's natural path, preventing property and land damage.
