Background: As veterans, we have dedicated our lives to serving our country, often at great personal sacrifice. In recognition of our service, designated parking spaces are allocated for our use. However, these spaces are frequently occupied by individuals who do not qualify, undermining their intended purpose and disrespecting the service of veterans. The Issue: Many veterans face mobility challenges and rely on these designated parking spaces for accessibility. The current lack of enforcement and absence of a placard requirement lead to frequent misuse, causing significant inconvenience and disrespect to those who have served.

Proposed Solution: We propose the implementation of a mandatory placard system for veterans' parking spaces, similar to the system used for handicapped parking. This would ensure that only eligible veterans can use these spaces, preventing misuse and properly honoring the sacrifices of our servicemen and women.

Supporting Evidence: A survey by the Department of Veterans Affairs indicates that a significant number of veterans experience mobility issues, exacerbating their parking difficulties. Implementing a placard system would not only ensure the proper usage of veterans' parking spaces but also serve as a symbolic gesture of appreciation for our service and sacrifice.
