Mandate Frequent Service for All Commuter Buses

The Issue

As a regular user of SEPTA's route 127, I appreciate the existence of this service. However, its reliability is questionable due to infrequent runs - every hour to two hours. For commuter buses to truly serve their purpose and be reliable, they must run every 15 to 20 minutes, not every half hour or hour.

Public transportation is usually more environmentally sustainable than individual car usage. According to the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), public transportation in the United States reduces CO2 emissions by 37 million metric tons annually. This makes a significant contribution towards combating climate change.

Moreover, public transportation creates jobs for those who need them. The APTA also reports that every $1 billion invested in public transportation supports and creates more than 50,000 jobs. In contrast, highways do not create jobs directly.

More frequent bus services mean increased ridership which translates into fewer cars on the road and less pollution in our environment while creating more employment opportunities.

Therefore we call upon relevant authorities and policy makers to mandate frequent service for all commuter buses across our cities and towns. Sign this petition if you believe in a greener future with sustainable job opportunities through improved public transport services.
