I am a BeReal user, and like many others, I use this platform to share snippets of my life with friends and family. However, the constant barrage of thumbs-up reactions has left me feeling bored. It seems that everyone reacts to my posts with a thumbs up - no matter the content or sentiment expressed in them. This lack of diversity in reactions is not only disheartening but also diminishes the value of genuine engagement on this platform.

BeReal is a social media app that encourages authenticity by allowing users to share one real, unfiltered photo each day. With over 2 million downloads since its launch (source: Sensor Tower), it's clear that many people value this unique approach to social media interaction.

However, the current reaction system limits users' ability to express their feelings adequately. A study from UCLA found that diverse emotional responses are crucial for maintaining meaningful relationships online (source: UCLA Newsroom). By limiting reactions to just 'thumbs up', we're missing out on a whole spectrum of emotions - from empathy and support to surprise or shared joy.

Therefore, I strongly urge BeReal developers to encourage users to use the ‘Thumbs up’ reaction less. So then users may voice their opinions on the picture better than putting a ‘Thumbs up’ on every BeReal no matter the content. This change will not only enhance user experience but also foster deeper connections among its community members.
