My name is Lee-Ann Mckay, and I am part of the vibrant community of Libertyville, IL, USA. Like many in our village, I work from home. Lately, my workdays are interrupted by solicitors knocking on my door, despite a clearly posted “no solicitation” sign. This practice disrupts our peace and quiet, but there is currently no regulation to deter these unwanted visits.

In order to preserve the tranquility of our community, I propose that a mandate be put in place, requiring companies and individuals to obtain a permit prior to conducting any business solicitation activities in Libertyville. Such policies have proven effective in nearby towns like Mundelein.

By enforcing these rules, not only can we regain our privacy, but our village can also ensure the legitimacy of businesses approaching our residents thereby preventing more vulnerable residents being targeted for scams and such.  Our village board has the means to make this essential change. It's time for them to listen to their constituents and take action.
