Mandate a percentage of muslims in Indian jobs

Mandate a percentage of muslims in Indian jobs
The Issue
Growing up in India, a country renowned for its diversity and multi-religious fabric, I have experienced firsthand the challenges that my Muslim identity presents in professional spaces. Despite equal education and intelligence, I, along with many others in my community, often encounter prejudices purely based on our outward appearances – a girl donning a hijab or a guy with a beard. These are often misunderstood as signs of being different or oppressed rather than expressions of personal or religious identity.
I am starting this petition to urge the Indian government and private sector organizations to mandate a certain percentage of their workforce to be comprised of Muslims. This initiative is not merely about filling quotas but fostering inclusivity and dismantling deeply ingrained biases in our society.
Muslims make up approximately 14% of India’s population; our representation in the workforce should reflect this demographic for true inclusivity and national development. According to the Sachar Committee report, the percentage of Muslims in government jobs is significantly low, underlining the disparity that exists and the urgent need for reform.
By setting a target for Muslim participation in all sectors, we can ensure fairer opportunities and help reduce the religious divide. Programs that promote diversity and inclusion help create richer, more innovative workplaces where people from all backgrounds can thrive.
Moreover, companies with diverse teams outperform their peers, reflecting improved financial performance. Encouraging religious diversity hence is not only a moral directive but also an economic advantage.
Join me in urging policymakers to take comprehensive actions to ensure that Muslims, like every other community, get equal access to employment opportunities in all sectors. A balanced representation in the workforce is a critical step towards a more harmonious, understanding, and united India.
Please sign this petition to help us work together toward an inclusive and equitable future for all communities in India.
