WE ARE ALL KIMBERLEY: We believe that the talent, inspiration and eternal genius of Prestwich-born Victoria Wood CBE should be permanently celebrated in a statue in Manchester, the city of her birth. Although her career spanned many performance disciplines in front of and behind the camera, it is Wood's much-loved characters who embodied her signature wit and combined warmth and celebration of northern life with her unique expression of joy and fun. We would like to see her beloved character of Kimberley's Friend, complete with beret and overcoat immortalised in a lasting public tribute to her amazing work, which will proudly live on in the hearts of all people in Manchester. Victoria's fans would often attend her live gigs in yellow berets and overcoats, and as we all see (and believe we had) a friend in Victoria, the character of Kimberley's Friend would be the perfect choice for the statue. "I'm looking for me friend... Kimberley....Have you seen 'er?" people will say. This tribute will make us all Kimberley and make us all smile.
