Petition updateGOVERNMENT DECIDED TO DO NOTHING: PLEASE HELP GET A LEGAL OPINIONThank you! Let's become "the loud and proud 80%"!!!
RESPECT OUR CITY CENTRE
Sep 17, 2016
In just 24 hours, over 350 people have said an emphatic NO to the Manchester Black Towers plans. Thank you so much for supporting and signing the petition. Footballer-turned-developer Gary Neville is at the forefront of the campaign to push the towers through the system. He’s good at attracting publicity, and he is scathing about any opposition. He said in this interview last month that the opposition to the towers is overstated; he thinks "the response has probably been 80% positive while the negative response comes from "a very loud 20%." He also dismissed the severe concerns of Historic England, who said "the scale and form of the plans would cause a high level of harm". Gary said "they are only one stakeholder among 30-40 stakeholders". Who are these "stakeholders"? What about us? The people who live here, work here, visit here - people who know, love and value Manchester and our unique city centre? Do our views matter? Please keep sharing the petition - chn.ge/2cOXn0R - with friends, family and colleagues... please encourage everyone you know, who shares our care and concern for Manchester, to sign. Let’s keep up the momentum and show Manchester City Council that there’s a "loud and proud 80%" who do not appreciate these dominating, damaging, destructive proposals and do NOT want the Council to support them. Your support is not just appreciated (and it is!). It’s absolutely essential. If this project with these towers, is built, the damage will be felt for generations. Thank you!
