This petition is on behalf of parents of students in Mother International School and the community members who are patrons of the iconic Matri store at the Aurobindo Ashram, Delhi. This is a sincere request to the Management and concerned parties to please reconsider and reverse the decision to close the Matri store, or to relocate it to a suitable location.

The Matri store has been enjoyed by many patrons from the neighborhood and in fact from  South Delhi and all over Delhi. It offers organic foods, snacks, diet and health foods and many other options of food and wellness items which are not readily available otherwise. In particular, it offers oils, handmade candles as made by Ashram members, Yoga items etc. People have been coming to this store for decades and availing and enjoying the unusual and healthy fare and other options that contribute to mental and physical well being. The store is much talked about around Delhi, and is quite an institution. It is an intrinsic part of the history of the school and Ashram.

The store is a boon to students of Mothers international School as well, as it offers healthy alternatives such as juices, Nimbu Pani and snacks such as soya chips and other low fat options. It offers the students a clean and safe place to walk to inside campus for a break and they really enjoy this option. In contrast the canteen has long lines and fewer wholesome options, and students are not able to get snacks in the time allocated to recess.

As parents and patrons we feel very sorry that the store has to close suddenly. The students have also been sharing their immense disappointment on hearing this news.

We urge the Management to kindly reconsider this decision and enable this well liked Delhi institution to continue to serve and benefit the community of parents, neighbors, members of the Ashram, patrons etc.
