So, I got an email today from Change.org indicating that someone submitted a claim alleging that the content of my petition is defamatory. Of course, the notification did not indicate who submitted it, or what the actual defamation might be. I do not know if this is an attempt at intimidation by station management at KRCL 90.9FM or the Board of Trustees, or a reminder by a concerned supporter that I need to be careful in how things are phrased. I do know that nothing I have posted is a knowingly and provably false statement of fact. It has all been opinion, and now makes that more clear. As far as I know, there has been no reckless disregard for the truth. However, since I don't know with absolute certitude that the decisions at KRCL were made directly by Vicki Mann, or if they were made by the program and/or music directors under her, I have modified the text in the petition accordingly. I now believe that the only way to resolve the issues at KRCL is for a wholesale cleaning house of all members of the management team, including the station manager, the program director, and the music director, or anyone acting in that capacity. In her capacity as station manager, I do believe that Ms. Mann should be held responsible for the decisions made by any other members of the management team reporting directly to her. To use Harry S Truman-esque language, the buck has to stop somewhere, and for me, that's the desk of the station manager. And, I still find it somewhat telling that I cannot find a single explicit statement of support for Ms. Mann or the decisions made by the day-to-day management team at KRCL, not even by the Board of Trustees ... and believe me, I've been looking, because if I'm missing an important piece of information, then I want to know what it is. Finally, if any of the supporters here happen to be an attorney with some experience in this type of law, I'd appreciate a little pro bono advice. I think that I'm in the clear, but I'm also not a fool.
