The National Justice Project has commenced 2 class actions on behalf of refugees & asylum seekers on Nauru and Manus Island.
Dear supporters,
4 years ago you helped me to get a 23 year-old rape victim on Nauru urgent medical and psychological treatment in Australia. Since then my team at the National Justice Project has been working tirelessly to deliver justice for asylum seekers on Nauru and in PNG.
Over the last year we have helped hundreds of refugees and asylum seekers get urgent medical care and we commenced a series of Federal Court cases that led to the successful campaign to get all #KidsOffNauru.
We have now launched two class actions against the Australian Government on behalf of refugees & asylum seekers on Nauru and Manus Island, and we need your help to fund these crucial cases.
There are still around 1000 refugees and asylum seekers left on those islands. They are crammed in disgraceful accommodation, lacking adequate water and food, and denied basic health care.
People have set themselves on fire. A man was beaten to death. There have been countless suicide attempts. Children have been abused and countless people have been assaulted. Twelve people have died. Dozens of women have been raped.
We will be asking the Federal Court to stop the Australian Government from harming the individuals remaining on Manus and Nauru.
We will argue that the people seeking asylum who remain on Manus and Nauru have been subject to torture, crimes against humanity and the intentional infliction of harm by the Australian Government.
To do this we need all the support we can get. Running these cases over the next 12 months will cost over $100,000.
This could be the definitive action that ends this experiment in cruelty. We need you to chip in to make it happen. Please visit our Chuffed page now to donate - any amount helps:

*Please note that If we resolve the case or have money left over we will use it for our other refugee and asylum seeker cases.
Yours sincerely
