Time to legalise and regulate nicotine vapes in Malaysia

The Issue

Vapes have helped many former smokers in Malaysia quit cigarettes for good.

Many governments around the world understand that vapes are less harmful than smoking and can help smokers quit. Nicotine vapes are legally sold in many countries such as the UK, the European Union, New Zealand, Australia, Canada, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

However, nicotine vapes are actually illegal in Malaysia because nicotine is listed as a scheduled poison in the Poisons Act from 1952. This means that anyone using a nicotine vape is technically breaking the law. No matter what benefits vaping bring to smokers, vapers, their families and the public.

Many vapers use nicotine vapes in Malaysia today but without proper regulation, they are exposed to dodgy products from underground sources.

It's time that nicotine vapes are legalised and properly regulated, so that Malaysian smokers can legally enjoy the health benefits of switching away from cigarettes to authorised, high-quality vape products.

Join our petition to send the message to the government that we need to legalise and regulate nicotine vapes, now!

  • "In England, an estimated 2.5 million people use e-cigarettes, the majority of whom no longer smoke. In addition, around 50,000 people a year quit smoking through switching to e-cigarettes, who would not have quit through other means. Alongside this, local stop smoking services advise smokers of the benefits of switching to less harmful products, with some offering free vaping starter kits."
