Making Our Rosemont Community Safe

Making Our Rosemont Community Safe
The Issue
As a concerned parent and Regina Rosemont community member, I am deeply distressed by the violent, unpredictable and unsafe behaviour demonstrated by a neighbour in our community, (Name Redacted). This individual's behaviour has violated the peace and orderliness of our neighbourhood, compromising our right to safety and tranquility. It's alarming because our children and fellow members ought to live in a community that fosters their well-being. For safety and protection, I am asking for immediate and coordinated intervention by the Regina Police Service, Regina Humane Society Animal Protection, and the City of Regina Licensing & Bylaw Enforcement.
The most alarming incident involved him bringing a deceased puppy to my front door where he caused me fear for myself, my children, and our child guest. A litter of dead puppies was subsequently removed from his home. This occurred on September 28th, 2024 and did not result in any criminal charges or restrictions on owning animals. In the past six years from this neighbour I have further experienced:
- Ongoing intimidation and threat to the safety of myself and children;
- Animal bites suffered by my child from dogs owned by this person;
- Sexual harassment in the form of unwanted comments and gestures;
- Trespassing in which he stood outside my bedroom window at night;
- Children witnessing a deceased dog on the neighbouring property
- Animals in distress including a dog being tased, suffering from worms, mistreatment, living in unsanitary hoarding conditions, and trained to be malicious.
My experiences are not isolated as demonstrated by multiple vocal supporters and victims of this neighbour. A documented history from witnesses has already been made available and offered to the agencies involved, and the community is aware of ongoing problems from this property.
It is imperative that necessary action is taken to curb this escalating behaviour. It has become crucial for all parties to intervene and decide on apt measures. The right to live peacefully in one's home should not be compromised by the unacceptable actions of a single individual.
