The issue we want to take action on is healthcare not being affordable to everyone. Public healthcare prices have gone up exceptionally. Many Americans are unable to easily pay for their care.  We think some causes of our issue are new technologies being created, more chronic illnesses being discovered, high prices for drugs and medications, and the method of paying medical employees through a fee-for-service system. There are a few organizations that help people find cheaper healthcare plans. One of these sources is the Massachusetts Health Connector. This organization helps guide patients looking for dental health plans or supports paying for health coverage including MassHealth, Children’s Medical Security Plan (CMSP), Health Safety Net, or ConnectorCare. These associations are really important to many people and patients access healthcare.

This concern matters to us because healthcare is a human necessity and delaying or ignoring health problems because of health is something that no one should have to do despite the fact that most Americans do. Healthcare should be a priority for all patients, and they shouldn’t have to pay a great amount of out-of-pocket money or set aside medical visits because of the high prices.  

Our goal is to bring attention and funding to the organizations, like the Massachusetts Health Connector,  that can help connect people to more affordable healthcare options and plans. We want to raise awareness and create a policy that uses the Massachusetts health resources better than we already are.
