The TV license funds the BBC only. Many people never watch or listen to the BBC yet they are forced to contribute to it: there by funding its status as public service broadcasting. 

All other streaming services and TV channels are funded by subscriptions and/or adverts.

I feel those who don't believe themselves to benefit from their contribution to the BBC, should have the option to opt out.

Update. Since writing this I learn the TV license is to be scrapped in 2027, but until then you can expect the yearly cost to raise. In 2024 it will cost you £173.30
